Donation?
Would a donation change the issue of the Support? Neither think so.
Your mails are not read, You get stupid notification back and subject closes in 24hrs.
If I'd like to donate, I would definitely do it for charity organisation.
Or maybe ANET has changed from the business company into the church?

Just do what people have already suggested, and do a deuce donation. Buy 10 copies, and donate the 10 copies to some charity or something.

Sorry... just on more, you're not your.

OK^^. Anet do their best to reply to e-mails. If you're on this list, then you should stop sending them e-mails:

People who write them SPAM
People who do not read the guidelines for sending a support ticket, and give incomplete information
People who send fanmail
People who suggest something that has been mentioned dozens of times
People who think that Anet only read support tickets as their means of game improvement
People who came from WoW (that's a give in, you don't need to take this seriously if you actually did come from WoW... everyone else who reads this, take this seriously please :P)

Which monthly fee thread was this?

As much as I love the work Anet does, Im not willing to donate money to them to be honest.

The simple reason being that I dont like it when companies or individuals put "donate funds" one their software.

The game is free (aside from buying) and I love that aspect about it.

If donations were introduced and Anet thought people were willing to pay them, I think it might cause a downward slope to monthly fees.

The donations wouldnt be forced, as a montly fee would be, the would be mostly(my opinion) to show ANet we REALLY want the them to have better servers/bandwidth, so we CAN get higher connection quality/less disconnects/more storage. The previous is MY idea, nothing at all to do with previous mentioned monthly fees and I sure as hell am not saying that Anet "needs the money"(again). As to buying multiple copies, and not playing them, thatd actually be a waste of your money, as it does you no good to have things you wont use. Itd be like a guy with no legs buying himself a bike, pretty usesless. If people dont like the idea of actually giving ANet 1-2 dollars specifically for server/bandwidth improvements, showing them we want something done bad enough that we'll pool our money to pay for it(we put up the money, ANet buys better equipment/bandwidth)then stop complaining about lag/disconnects/lack of storage, as you apparently dont really care that much.

I person with no legs can buy a bike and ride it if he wanted to. There are leg attatchments and you can get bikes specially made for a person in that predicament.

If the donations were specifically used to increase server/bandwidth improvements, then people will be even more expectant to have top running servers for the 1 or 2 dollars that they donate - quite possibly, once, ever. Guaruntee that you'll see someone who will make a big complaint about donating money (without specifying how much they donated) and going off the rockets because they are still getting err7ed.

Some of us do care about lag/disconnects/lack of storage. Donating them money is not the right way. Out of goodwill? fFne, do that on your own.

How can Anet, a publicly held company, accept donations like this?

It makes no sense.

Well, neither was I on the list You described.
And I contained all the details. Also get brave ticket.
No real-response at all. Just an automatic one, saying, that they thank me for the message, appreciate it and bla bla bla. And that I should contact one of the forums.

SO I DID.

This is what I'm taking about.

So, you want to put a "donate" button on GW's home page, where people will donate $1-$10.

To help with bandwidth and such.

I'd suggest you look into data center hosting, business expenses and salaries.

Then look at sites and organizations supported by donations.

You might notice that several zeroes will be missing in the process. The costs we're talking here are millions, and players donate thousands. Unfortunately, whatever your background for suggestion was, it lacks real world perspective on how money works on such scale. If you're running a donation supported website of a $49.99 per year host, and you actually make more money than that, then it may seem like this is the way to go. Think again.

If they raised $50,000 over the course of one year (and that's an insanely optimistic ammount), that wouldn't cover even the replacement costs for hardware.

They have donation box. The online store. It's the core of how business works. It's the whole concept behind capitalism, the western world, the world as a whole for that matter.

Data centers don't charge by byte transferred, so have a few dimes over in piggy bank won't buy you a thing. Contracts are signed for long periods of time with given resource limits. Developers need to be paid on monthly basis. Your money wouldn't even pay a month's salary for an intern. And yes, they work for "free". Any full-time developer costs the company upwards of $100k a year (salary, benefits, insurance, taxes, equipment, renting the building they work in, travel expenses, ...).

Wow!! Purely WOW!!! What a great idea!!! but only if we can get a celebrity cast. I was thinking:

- Michael "Please Don't Touch Me Again" Jackson
- Stevie "Why do I always look up and shake my head" Wonder
- Paul "Where did Garfunkel Go" Simon
- Kenny "No I'm not the Detroit Tigers pitcher" Rogers
- Billy "I like to occasionaly tour with Elton John and I always have a FUN time" Joel
- Willie "somebody buy me a new guitar" Nelson
- Huey "I successfully sued Ray Parker Jr. over similarities between his Ghostbuster Theme song and my I Want a New Drug song" Lewis
- Cindy "I'm going to make a 2007 comeback....really I am" Lauper
- Diana "Where is the Duct Tape" Ross

Anything less is unacceptable!!

Pull out the lighters. The money will be flowing in in no time!

Have I wandered in to some otherworld reality here? or is this a comedy thread?

This has to be the most bizarre suggestion I have ever heard.

Anet makes something like 20 million dollars atleast with every new game they release. They don't need any extra money. But most of this money goes to NCsoft and they whip Anet's backs into another really hard devellopment schedule. Has anyone ever thought that the company that Owns Anet wont let Anet put extra content into the older campaigns because the Buisness executives don't think that it will yield any more money, or won't encourage anyone new to buy the old campaigns at all?

Donations is a stupid idea, because Anet and Ncsoft have more than enough money to fund more content for the games, they just dont want to because they are happy with the amount of money they are making right now.

I see people also talking of Bandwith problems, If There is too many people on a server and Anet sees 'profit' is in order, they will put up a new server and more bandwith.
